At the end of the XVth century, Florence counts 40.000 citizens.
The medieval walls surrounding the city leave out big green areas just outside a densely populated urban centre. Among the buildings, the symbols of civic and religious power stand out: Palazzo della Signoria, Palazzo del Podestà and the Cathedral, just completed with the Brunelleschi’s grandiose Dome. Close to the city walls, the houses are set all around the churches of the preaching orders of Santa Maria Novella, Santa Maria del Carmine, Santo Spirito. The river Arno, with its four medieval bridges, is lively with the intense activity animating its waters and banks. Notice how the main buildings, churches, bridges, city doors show inscriptions with their names.

Christmas activities for visitors and families

Christmas arrived once again and as usual our Museum offers guided tours, activities and workshops for visitors and families with children from 4 to 12 years old. Our Christmas activities start the 22nd of December 2011 and go through the 8th of January 2012. Click  here for the complete programme.

Palazzo Vecchio Gift box

Starting from the 8th of December throughout the Christmas holidays you will be able to offer Palazzo Vecchio as a gift. It would be quite a bulky gift, indeed, if it weren’t simbolic: the Associazione Museo dei Ragazzi, in agreement with the Comune di Firenze, launches to the public the special edition of Palazzo Vecchio Gift Box. It is a real gift-box you can place under your tree, containing a voucher to take part in a special activity (of your choice) and a little present. The Gift Box is offered in two main versions, the version for Adults and the version for Families. In the first case the box contains a voucher for two people and an elegant Penkino jewel, in bronzed silver, realized by the goldsmith’s shop Paolo Penko Florence: you can choose the subject between the Florentine Lily and the turtle with the sail, the symbol of the Duke Cosimo I de’ Medici, testifying the capacity to combine the caution of a turtle with the speed of a sail swelled by wind. The turtle is also inside the Gift Box for families, but in this case it takes the form of a soft Trudy stuffed animal, together with a voucher for all the family. You just need to reserve (it is possible up until December 2012) your favourite activity following the instructions contained in the box to have a priority pass for a special experience in Palazzo Vecchio. An entire building in a case! The price is Euro 35,00; you can buy the Palazzo Vecchio Gift Box by the Info Point of the museum of Palazzo Vecchio and via mail at info.museoragazzi@comune.fi.it (with home delivery by courier).
